Well folks, Kim and John’s amazing Colombian trip is coming to an end. They have spent 18 days travelling in this amazing country, with the last 3 spent in the beautiful historical area of Cartagena. They love this old historical place. Everything is walkable, and there was a lot to do!
On the first day, they had a guide take them on a walking tour around the old center, where they learned about the history, saw some beautiful parks, and maybe a couple of animals.
A bit about this city….
Cartagena is a port city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. By the sea is the walled Old Town, founded in the 16th century, with squares, cobblestone streets and colorful colonial buildings.
The next day, they had a tour of the market, followed by a cooking class at a great restaurant called Siepre. This is a highly recommended restaurant on trip advisor that opened a year ago. The chef owner was their teacher! They made ceviche and coconut rice with shrimp. Kim loved this tour. The market was very interesting….you could buy everything there…meat, fruit, vegetables, cow eyes…..nothing goes to waste. They also had people cooking lunch over wood fires….it was hot in there!

On their last day, they went on a speedboat, travelling one hour to the Caribbean island of Isla Rosario. This was a day to relax, have a leisurely bike ride around the village, float down the river and lay by the beach…sounds like a pretty good last day in Cartagena. The rest of their time was filled with drinking coffee, enjoying seafood, enjoying street performers and the breezy evenings….sounds pretty great!
Well that’s all folks….they start heading home tomorrow. They will come and get us on Monday. We’ve had a great time at Marge’s! It will be a while before they go on another adventure….the world is getting to be pretty crazy…and they need to work to save for their next adventure. Lol
